INFC Out-of-District Athlete Release & Waiver Policy
Due to player personnel and territorial regulations, the Indian Nations Football Conference (INFC) requires all participating athletes to meet specific eligibility criteria before playing for a member organization.
To be eligible to participate with an INFC tackle football program, an athlete must meet at least one of the following criteria:
-
The athlete attends a school within the club/organization’s district.
-
The athlete lives within the approved recruiting territory of the club/organization.
-
The athlete possesses an official Release/Waiver approved by the INFC Commission and the receiving member organization (with acknowledgment from the sending organization).
If an athlete does not officially live within or attend school within the receiving club’s district, they must obtain an approved waiver to participate.
How to Apply for an Out-of-District Waiver
To streamline the transfer process, all waiver applications are handled directly through the club you wish to join.
Step 1: Contact the Receiving Club
Parents or guardians must first contact the organization they wish to transfer to (the “Receiving Organization”) to determine eligibility. Do not contact the INFC directly to start this process. The receiving club will guide and assist you through the necessary transfer steps.
Step 2: Gather Required Documentation
The receiving club will require the following documents to process the transfer:
-
Application for Athlete Release
-
Parent/Guardian Agreement
- Detailed description &/or reasoning for requesting the Athlete Release
-
Proof of Student Athlete’s Official Address: Address verification must be obtained through the school or district the athlete attends. The primary address listed on the school’s official records is the only address accepted when location is in question.
Step 3: Submission & Review Once you provide the required documents, the receiving club will submit your completed INFC Release Form to the INFC office.
-
Deadline: All release forms must be completed and submitted by July 20th of the current year.
-
The INFC Release Committee will review the application. The committee may request a meeting with the parents before a decision is made. The INYS Commissioner holds the deciding vote.
Step 4: Decision & Appeals If the waiver is approved, the athlete is cleared for the current season. If denied, the conference and/or receiving club will provide written instructions on how to appeal.
-
Appeals: Must be submitted in writing with any new, pertinent information to the INFC office, accompanied by a $100.00 appeal fee, before a hearing date is considered.
Important Rules & Restrictions
Please read the following conference bylaws carefully before applying for a transfer:
-
Annual Renewal: Approved releases are valid for one season only. Waivers do not carry over from year to year; athletes must re-apply annually.
-
Draft Placement: Players granted a transfer must be placed in the draft and cannot be protected from the draft. Players granted transfers after the draft will be assigned to a team by the Conference.
-
Local School Football: Transfers and releases will not be granted in territories that offer school football for the athlete’s specific grade level.
-
Mighty-Mite Exception: If an organization does not offer a Mighty-Mite division, Mighty-Mite transfers/releases to another club will be granted.
-
Late Additions: No new players are permitted to join an association or participate in the INFC after the second regular-season game. Exceptions may be granted by the Commissioner for players newly moving into approved INFC territories if requested early in the season.
-
Anti-Recruiting Policy: Once a player signs with a member organization, they are the exclusive property of that organization. Players cannot be recruited or persuaded by other member organizations.
-
Shared Territories: If a player resides in a territory shared by multiple organizations, the player becomes the exclusive property of the organization they play their first season with. Any changes require going through the formal release process.
